Seventeen Impact games to be broadcast on CKAC730 radio

Over the next A-League season, 17 of the team’s 28 games will be broadcast on the Montreal French radio station as well as throughout the Radiomedia network, three more than last year.

"We are very happy to be back with CKAC for another year," said Tony Laurenzana, the Impact’s Vice-President Administration and Marketing. "This is an important partnership for us, which will most importantly allow soccer fans to follow the team closely throughout the season."

"This renewed partnership for a second year with the Montreal Impact confirms that the Radiomédia network is a predominant force in terms of sports all across de province of Quebec," said Radiomédia President and Chief Executive Officer Sylvain Chamberland. "Radiomédia continues to show leadership in the field of sports by allowing fans to follow, live, the performances of professional sports teams and to trade opinions with experienced commentators and analysts."

This year, CKAC730 will broadcast all 12 games played at Claude Robillard Stadium, including the Sunday, May 16 home opener at 4 pm against the Virginia Beach Mariners. The station will also present the two "home" games to be played in Quebec City and Sherbrooke, slated for August 14 and 22 against the Puerto Rico Islanders and the Atlanta Silverbacks, respectively.

In addition, three away games will be broadcast, on May 29 in Toronto, July 16 in Syracuse and August 27 in Rochester. The broadcast schedule will allow Impact fans to follow the team for its last eight regular-season games, as the squad coached by Nick DeSantis will be attempting to earn a playoff berth for the third year in a row and win the Eastern Conference title for the second straight season.

In addition to broadcasting the games, CKAC730 will once again provide regular coverage of the team’s activities through its sports service, as well as through Les Amateurs de Sports and Bonsoir les sportifs, sports magazine shows which are in their 31st year. CKAC730 is also the official voice of the Canadiens and the Alouettes.

After several years of close collaboration following the team’s inception in 1993, Impact games were broadcast on CKAC730 for the first time in 2003. Fourteen games were presented last year, including three road match-ups.

The Impact will kick off its season April 25 in Puerto Rico against the Islanders.
