Impact ties 1-1 with Honduras national team

The game was a last-minute addition to the pre-season training schedule, seeing that the Honduran national squad was also in Florida.

Impact forward Fabian Dawkins scored the tying goal with less than 10 minutes to play on a breakaway, with Charles Gbeke preparing the goal. Honduras previously opened the score early in the 4th minute.

“I’m happy with this first result because we played very well technically,” said Impact head coach Nick De Santis. “We created many scoring chances throughout the game. Despite the fact that we have only been training together for 10 days, we stood our ground.”

De Santis fielded two different starting line-ups for each of the two halves. Impact goalkeeper Andrew Weber started the first half and Matt Jordan played the second.

The Impact will play its next pre-season game this Thursday, March 29, against the Rochester Raging Rhinos. Montreal will then face the Miami FC on March 30 and April 3.
