IMPACT 0 HONDURAS 2

The Impact conceded both goals in the second half. The first came in the 47th minute on a penalty and the second was scored in the 62nd minute.

“We did very well defensively and offensively in the first half but we did not take advantage of excellent scoring chances,” said Impact head coach John Limniatis. “In the second half we made a few mistakes that cost us the two goals. Against a team of this quality there is no place for errors. But the result is not important. Today’s game was a good preparation for us.”

Goalkeeper Srdjan Djekanovic, defenders Adam Braz, Cédric Joqueviel, Nevio Pizzolitto and Stephen deRoux, midfielders Leonardo Di Lorenzo, Tony Donatelli, David Testo and Joey Gjertsen, as well as forwards Roberto Brown and Peter Byers were on the starting lineup.

Braz left the game in the first half after being cut near the eye and was replaced by newcomer Kevin Sakuda. Alex Surprenant, Félix Brillant and Massimo Di Ioia came into the game in the second half.

It was Montreal’s second loss in 11 preseason games (7-2-2), since the beginning of training camp.

The Impact will play its second exhibition game in Florida, this Thursday at 7:30 pm, against a Haitian selection.

The Impact will kick off its regular season April 18, in Charleston. The Impact will play its home opener Saturday, May 9, as they host the Rochester Rhinos at Saputo Stadium. Season tickets are currently available by calling 514-328-3668.
