The Impact organizes a conference with coach Steve Payne

The conference will focus on a complete analysis of Cruzeiro EC, a first division Brazilian club, one of Brazil’s most renowned and respected clubs.

Mr. Payne will look at the culture of Brazilian soccer and the structure of both its first division and its youth academy, including player nutrition, training and club finances, those that Ronaldo grew up with.

“He will give his own report on what he saw in Brazil, one of the countries that produce the most professional players. He will explain how Brazil is able to achieve this,” explained Impact assistant coach Marc Dos Santos, who is spearheading the project.

Participants will also have the chance to obtain privileged information on Steve Payne’s international experience. Steve Payne holds the highest licence granted by UEFA. Mr. Payne coached in England, Brazil and Canada. He now works for Bryst, a professional soccer academy based near Toronto.

“This kind of conference can offer a great deal to coaches in Quebec that are working at developing soccer throughout the province,” added Dos Santos. “At the moment, the most important thing in Quebec is to train coaches. To study new philosophies and learn different ways to work can certainly help a coach to be more complete.”

The 90-minute conference in English will be followed by a question and answer period with Mr. Payne. Places are limited and the cost is $50. A light meal will also be served. To attend the conference call 514-328-3668 (extension 250).
