All Academy matches in Montreal will be held Saturday at 1 pm, at Saputo Stadium, except the game on May 22. Time and place of that match have yet to be determined.
The Academy will play the first match in its history Saturday, May 15 against Milltown FC, at 1 pm at Saputo Stadium. The Academy’s regular season will end Saturday, September 25 at Saputo Stadium against the Toronto FC Academy.
“We have a title to defend and the Montreal Impact name to represent,” said Philippe Eullaffroy, director of player development and head coach of the Montreal Impact Academy. Our players are conscious that demands will be higher. Even though we start the season with a roster of 12 new players, we will have a team that will have a year of experience. This should translate into greater maturity that should be visible on the field.”
Only a special section in the north grandstands will be open during the Academy’s matches. Game tickets will only be sold on the day of the event at the door for $2. The Cage aux Sports will have an open concession but the Impact boutique will be closed. Stadium doors will open one hour prior to the match.
Montreal Impact season ticket holders will get free access to the Academy games.
The main objective of the Academy is to develop young club players within the first team’s professional environment and to foster the growth of homegrown talent. Academy players, mainly aged between 17 and 21, are recruited on the basis of their athletic performances and human qualities.
The CSL is a professional league comprised of 13 clubs, for the most part based in the Greater Toronto Area.
