As a professional player, being transferred to a new team is part of the game, but when that move is made across an entire continent, to a country where the temperature and language is foreign, it’s an extremely difficult adjustment.

Add to that his move came midseason, and it’s no wonder that Johan Venegas feels like he could improve on his performance.

“It was tough last year joining a new team in the middle of their season,” explained the Costa Rican international. “That situation makes it harder to learn the tendencies of your teammates and get adjusted, both on and off the pitch.”

The midfielder, whose versatility was evident last season when he played in all three offensive midfield positions, is looking forward to a fresh start in 2016.

“Coming into this year, I already know many of the guys and feel more comfortable with the group. We will have preseason to prepare together and get even more acquainted. This will help me be in a better position to help the team; in whatever capacity or position they feel they need me.”
