MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Tuesday that Pari Arshagouni has been named Chief Soccer Officer.
“Considering the growth of the club, including at the Academy level, and the opening of our new training centre, we needed an administrator that would specifically coordinate our entire soccer operations,” said Montreal Impact president Joey Saputo. “We are thrilled to welcome Pari, who’s been involved with soccer at various levels for many years, to our club.”
Pari Arshagouni was general manager of the Montreal Supra in the late 1980s and was part of the transition team of the Impact, between 1997 and 2000. More recently, he spearheaded the Montreal organizing committee for the U20 FIFA World Cup, in 2007. He worked in amateur soccer for years, as coach and president of the Longueuil soccer club, as vice-president of the Rive-Sud regional soccer association and at the Sainte-Julie soccer club, as coach. He also served on the Quebec Soccer Federation executive committee for eight years in the 1980s. An engineer by training, he was president of EIC, a consulting and computer engineering company.
Mr. Arshagouni will report directly to the Montreal Impact president. He will be responsible for the administrative management of the club’s three sports branches: the first team, the Academy and the Soccer Schools (SoSC).
He will also handle the development and monitoring of the technical sector’s budgets, as well as the management and operations of the new training centre. He will also ensure liaison with the various soccer governing bodies.
Richard Legendre will now act as Executive Vice-President, Strategic Development and Communications. He will carry on handling the general management of the club and the management of various special projects.
The technical sector’s structure and roles regarding the first team, the Academy and the SoSc remain unchanged.
