Montreal, September 9, 2017 – Centraide of Greater Montreal and the Montreal Impact Foundation are pleased to announce that the 6th annual Centraide Cup has raised $225,000, which is $25,000 more than last year. All proceeds from this inter-company soccer tournament will go to support programs that prevent school dropout and improve the quality of life for youth and families.

The Centraide Cup will oppose 23 teams, composed of some 500 employees of large companies, throughout the weekend of September 9 and 10 at Stade Saputo. In vying for this prestigious cup, these amateur players will be motivated by a single goal: to help their community, thanks to the funds raised through donations and sponsorships.

“This cup tournament is an ideal opportunity for companies to rally around a common value of solidarity. We thank them for teaming up with us to allow needy families and youth to develop their full potential,” said Lili-Anna Pereša, president and executive director of Centraide of Greater Montreal.

“We are proud partners of this event, because not only does it encourage healthy living through physical activity, it brings people together to support youth from disadvantaged backgrounds,” added Carmie Saputo, president of the Montreal Impact Foundation.

The companies that will compete for the Centraide Cup are: AECOM, Aéroports de Montréal, BMO Financial Group, Bombardier Aerospace, CAE, CGI, Deloitte, Desjardins, Hydro-Québec, iA Financial Group, LGS Group, Manulife, McKesson Canada, METRO, National Bank, Passion Soccer Boutique, Pratt & Whitney Canada, RBC Royal Bank, SNC-Lavalin, TD Bank Group and TVA Sports.

Soccer fans can attend all tournament games for free. The playoffs will be held on Sunday, September 10, starting at 2pm. The winning teams of the competitive tournament and the recreational tournament will be announced at around 4pm.

The Montreal Impact Foundation’s mission is to organize and support activities for the advancement, education and improved quality of life of disadvantaged children and their families. The Foundation’s logo was created with its mission in mind: the child-like writing represents the reason for its existence, the children, while the heart symbolizes the energy and love needed to give them hope.
