MONTREAL – Midfielder Samuel Piette has been selected by the Canadian national team to take part in a training camp and in a Concacaf Nations League qualification game, on September 9 against the U.S. Virgin Islands, in Bradenton, Florida.
The Reds will hold their training camp in Sarasota, Florida, starting on September 2.
Piette, 23, has recorded two assists in 38 games with the Canadian national team, including 23 starts. He made his senior debut with the Reds at the age of 17, on June 3, 2012, against the United States. He recently took part in the 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup, starting all four games during the tournament. He had previously played in the 2013 and 2015 editions, while also appearing in several 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification games. He also represented Canada at the U17, U20 and U23 levels and played in the 2011 FIFA U17 World Cup in Mexico.

At stake in the 2018-19 Concacaf Nations League qualifying campaign is a spot in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, as well as group ranking in Concacaf Nations League. After 68 qualification matches, the top 10 nations will qualify for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup while the top six selections will additionally be assigned to Concacaf Nations League "A".
Goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau, who is currently on loan with Ottawa Fury FC, was also selected by the Canadian national team.
