MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced Friday that Academy goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois has signed his first professional contract, agreeing to a Homegrown Player deal with the club for 2020 with an option to extend for future years.

“We are really happy to see a player from the Academy sign his first professional contract,” said Impact Sporting Director Olivier Renard. “Jonathan proved during training camp that the club can count on him. It’s well deserved with the progress he made, and it’s also the club’s will to trust Academy players.”

The 18-year-old goalkeeper joined the Academy in 2015 and played for the U15, U17, and U19 teams. He was with the Impact U17 that reached the Development Academy final four in 2018 and was invited to the Generation adidas International Elite Soccer Program the same year.

“It’s a great pride to sign for my club. It’s like a dream that comes true,” said Sirois. “The first step is done, now I need to keep progressing.”

Sirois was born in LaSalle and grew up in Saint-Hubert. He played for Spatial Saint-Hubert before joining the Montreal Impact Academy. He is the 18th Academy player to sign a contract with the Impact first team.

Transaction: The Montreal Impact signed Homegrown player Jonathan Sirois to a first-team contract on Friday, March 6.
