eMLS League Series 2 qualifying gets set to kick off tonight at 8:30pm

As we turn the corner on the month’s first year and say hello to February, we also welcome eMLS League Series 2, which gets set to take off tonight at 8:30pm. Our eSports player Mehdibob, presented by BMO, will be representing CF Montréal through 12 qualifying games taking place on February 2, 3, and 9, in hopes of finishing in the top 8 and qualifying for the livestream.

Following the three nights of qualifying, the top eight finishers will then advance to the League Series 2 Tournament set to be held February 13-14, for which they’ll compete in a seeded bracket for a place in the final. The tournament can be viewed at twitch.tv/MLStwitter.com/MLS, on mlssoccer.com, or on the free MLS app.

“My expectations are high,” said esports player Mehdibob. “What I’m aiming for is finishing in the top 8 of this tournament to qualify to the live event, but also qualifying to MLS Cup in the top 11 overall after two tournaments.”

Mehdibob finished League Series 1 qualifying with an even record of six wins, six losses, and two draws, and came just three points shy of finishing in the top 8 and qualifying to the live tournament. You can view his full eMLS League Series 1 results here. He currently sits in 15th, just four spots shy of the 11th spot that would see him qualify directly to the eMLS Cup.

“League Series 1 went well, but I lost too many points I shouldn’t have,” added Mehdibob. “It’s all about taking it one game at a time and being patient when I have the lead. But I remain confident thanks to some of my performances against the tournament favourites during League Series 1.”

Qualifying records from both League Series 1 and League Series 2 count toward the overall eMLS standings and will help determine which competitors advance to the eMLS Cup Playoffs in March.
